Set up Instructions

Before setting up your hammock, make sure you have read and understand Hammock Safety Guidelines.

Hammock set up is not complicated, and if you have the right gear, it is even easier.
Camponion hammocks have everything you need to set up your hammock fast and safely, even if you have never set up a hammock before.

Setting up your hammock:

STEP 1. Find two sturdy and healthy trees about 12-15 ft apart.

STEP 2. Hang your straps at about 5-6 ft. above ground.

STEP 3. Attach your hammock to the first strap and while pulling it out of the carry bag, pull it towards the other tree and attach the other end to the second strap.

STEP 4. Center the hammock and adjust the height by moving the hanging points to the desired loops on the straps.

STEP 5. Make sure that the hammock is not too tight and that it always has enough sag. Ideally, the hammock should be about chair height, and the tree straps should have an angle of about 30 degrees.

Setting up your mosquito net:

Before setting up the mosquito net, set up your hammock first to make it easier.

STEP 1. Tie your ridgeline about 1 ft. or less above the hammock straps.

STEP 2. Hang your mosquito net from the ridgeline.

STEP 3. Unhook your hammock from the strap and feed it through the mosquito net opening. Do that for both sides.

STEP 4. Once both ends are through the net, pull the strings around the net opening to tighten it so no bugs can enter in! The strings will also serve as drip lines if it rains.

Setting up your rain cover:

STEP 1. Tie your ridgeline right above your hammock straps. If you also have the mosquito net hung, your tarp ridgeline can be right above the mosquito net ridgeline.

STEP 2. Throw your tarp over the ridgeline aligning the tarp center along the ridgeline.

STEP 3. Use the second ridgeline to tie it through the loop, if necessary (or very windy).

STEP 4. Use two Guy Lines to tighten the tarp from two ends on top and additional 4 Guy Lines to tighten from 4 corners with four stakes.
